EMOYE Coffee
Brewed Heritage, Shared Love.
Our Story
Coffee has always been more than just a drink in my family—it’s a cherished tradition. Born and raised in Ethiopia, I spent countless weekends at my grandmother Emoye’s house, where the aroma of freshly roasted beans filled the air during our traditional coffee ceremonies. Emoye, whose full name was Aberash Biyane, was affectionately called "Emoye," a term derived from the Amharic word "Emaye," meaning "Mother." It was a name we used with deep love and respect, and her presence was the heart of our family gatherings.
Although I was too young to join the coffee rituals at the time, I always watched with admiration. The warmth of her home, the rich conversations, and the strong, inviting scent of her coffee felt magical, like a delightful secret I couldn't wait to be part of.
As I grew older, Emoye taught me everything I know about coffee, from selecting the finest beans to the art of traditional roasting. These moments with her became a part of me, even after moving to the United States, where coffee seemed to lose its cultural depth and became just another morning routine.
Inspired by the flavors and traditions of Ethiopian coffee, I created this store to share with you the experience that has shaped me. It’s not just about the caffeine—it’s about community, heritage, and the love that my grandmother passed down to me, one cup at a time.

Emoye Coffee isn’t just about flavor; it’s about wellness too. For years, I enjoyed my grandmother’s coffee without realizing its health benefits. The spices she used are packed with antioxidants, support digestion, and boost the immune system. Sharing these health benefits with the world is part of my mission, along with creating a coffee experience that brings people together and honors my heritage. I look forward to hosting coffee experiences in Los Angeles, where our diverse community can gather, network, and exchange ideas over this rich, aromatic brew. I invite you to try this special coffee and become part of the story.
